SCHOLARSHIP

As part of the Association’s commitment to promoting and developing ruminant nutrition in Australia, the AARN offers a monetary scholarship to students enrolled in any tertiary education facility in Australia who completed their major research project on a topic related to ruminant nutrition. The scholarship is provided as a one-off grant.

Winners must attend the 2024 Annual Conference on October 22 + 23 in Attwood, Melbourne and give a short presentation on their work. Attending this conference is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn from other presenters on the day and network with potential employers and industry colleagues.

 

Application close Friday June 7th.

To be eligible for the prize applicants must be:

  • Enrolled as an Honors, Masters or PhD student in an appropriate course (Bachelor/Master of Animal Science, Agricultural Science or Veterinary Science) at an Australian University
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Undertaking a research project involving ruminant nutrition or a related topic and be able to provide details of the project and
  • Able to demonstrate academic merit.

The cash prize value of the scholarship is $1,500 with $500 payable upon announcement of the successful applicant to assist with travel and accommodation for the AARN Annual Conference. The remaining $1000 will be payable after a short presentation at the AARN Annual Conference held at the Best Western Airport Motel and Convention Centre Attwood Victoria on October 22nd and 23rd 2024.  Payments will be made via direct bank transfer.

Scholarship winners will also receive free membership of AARN (valued at $300) 

  • Written applications will be judged by the current AARN committee based on 1) writing ability; 2) significance of project/findings; and 3) relevance to ruminant nutrition.
  • Winners will be notified In July of 2024 
  • AARN reserves the right to appoint 0, 1 or 2 scholarships at the discretion of the committee based on available funds and the applications received.
  • To accept the award, recipients are required to attend and give a short 10-minute presentation at the annual AARN Annual Conference, October 22nd & 23rd, Best Western Airport Motel and Convention Centre, Attwood, Victoria.

STUDENT CONFERENCE BURSARY

One of the AARN goals is to empower and engage students interested in ruminant nutrition. On behalf of our Industry Partners, we are proudly offering up to six students a $500 bursary to attend our upcoming Annual Conference on October 22 + 23 in Attwood, Melbourne.

Applications closed on Friday, 30th August

Students must be enrolled Full Time in a relevant course at an Australian University.

The bursary is up to $500 to cover conference registration, and/or accommodation expenses.

The AARN Committee will assess the applications and notify students by Friday, 27th September.

At the conclusion of the of the conference each student will be asked to submit a one page document outlining key messages they took home from the conference, career plans for the future and how are they planning on applying the learnings from the conference. This will then be shared with the AARN memberbase via the website and through social media platforms.

AARN reserves the right to appoint 0-6 bursaries at the committee's discretion based on available funds and the applications received.
